How did Contravans get its start?

The idea behind Contravans was started when our owner built his own camper van for the purpose of touring the United States and our National Parks. He lived in his van for 18 months before planting roots in Colorado to build vans for other people.

Since then we have built awesome camper vans in every popular (and some not so popular) make and model on the road today.

At Contravans, we know your van and all of its quirks. We know vanlife inside and out. We know what works and what doesn’t. We know how to design your van to suit your particular needs. We know the vans, the equipment, and the materials needed to create a great, long-lasting camper van conversion.

All of our specific needs were met and we are better prepared for vanlife due to the advice and input given by the entire Contravans team. I give 5 stars to Contravans for the functional, beautiful conversion of my 2020 Ford Transit into a comfortable camper van. Kurt, Dillon, Jason and the whole Contravans team took my mess of a partially completed DIY project and turned it into a safe, structurally-sound camper.

I love its many striking features like the butcher block countertop, the large, very comfortable bed, and the customized items like air conditioning and the microwave they worked with me to include. The installation work was masterful, the design artistic, stylish and practical and the budget and time frame perfect for me.

It was a real pleasure to work with Kurt and the whole team at Contravans. We were looking to convert our 2011 Chevy Express and there were not many builders who wanted to work with the van here in Colorado. Kurt was extremely prompt in his response that his company could take on the project.

From the beginning steps of planning, to having to make a few mid-build adjustments, Contravans went above and beyond meeting our needs and fulfilling our vision for what we wanted the van to be.
